The Elbe

Enjoy duck feeding, walking & bike trails along the beautiful Elbe River as well as kid- friendly ferries and boat rides.

The Elbe has a wonderful 260 kilometer cycle route. Elberadweg - is a bike route website - parts are in English. You can rent bikes in Dresden at these locations:

Paddle Steamer Rides on the Elbe River

Nine paddleboat steamers can take you from Seußlitz to Decin and all points in between. The informative English language website gives all the information and prices. Tours range from one hour to all day excursions.

Buy tickets at the dock between Augustusbrücke and Carolabrücke Bridge. There is parking across the street at a few lots, but you may have to park a block or so away.

Ferry Rides Across the Elbe

Rides across the Elbe are included with your tram pass. To check the schedules go to the DVB website . This page allows you to search the timetable of the trams, buses, bergbahn and ferries. Select the drop down menu for Bergbahnen / Elbfähren and choose the ferry location you would like to see a timetable for.

Description: Numerous different species can be seen including snakes, penguins, lions and elephants. Play areas are available in the park. Feeding times are on the hour starting at noon. Inquire at the ticket booth for the day's schedule. Located in the southeastern corner of Große Garten.

Description: Two playscapes, large sports field and bike trail.

Große Garten

Location: West of Altstadt

Description: Two small playgrounds, duck and fish feeding, boat rides in pond, train ride. Good for bike riding and rollerblading. Home to the Zoo and Botanical Gardens.

Dresdner Heide

Description: Huge forest area, playground near the Am Weissen Adler stop has complete shade, nature trails, deer exhibit.

Night Skates – From April to October at 19:00 around 3,000 skaters meet every Friday evening for a night-time tour of Dresden, on varying routes. The tour starts at Halfpipe on LingnerAllee and lasts two hours. Fun for beginners to the physically fit with police, medics, food & music all along the way. Website in German.
